The Frost That Settles
Rattling bones in the dead of night,
The winds embrace my hollow plight.
White—the colour of death it seems,
A pale whisper lost in frozen dreams.
It whispers regret in the howling gales,
From the frozen wastes where sorrow wails.
The North wind blows cold, biting deep,
A lullaby where no souls sleep.
Cold fire burns in my weary chest,
Cool, calm, and frozen—denying rest.
A fiery heart gone cold with time,
Icebound in fate’s cruel design.
Frozen in time, on thin ice I tread,
Awaiting snowfall to cover the dead.
Stoking the fire, but the embers fade,
Symptoms of the dark season’s blade.
Winter’s toil, my hunger’s refrain,
Visit my starvation—call out my name.
Frozen complexion, a cold embrace,
Frigid core left no trace.
Icicle stares in the moon’s dull gleam,
Frosted thoughts drift like a dream.
White flame flickers, but never ignites,
Inkless pen, unwritten nights.
The frost that settles claims its due,
No sun will rise—no sky turns blue.
But from the ice, a whisper calls,
"Stand, warrior, before you fall."
